So, I saw the doc yesterday. He looked over my last 5 weeks of infusion therapy and the resulting labs and declared that the infusion seems to be working--HOORAY!!!! Then he said "BUT." I hate when there is a "BUT." The "BUT" is that he wants 5 more weeks of twice weekly iv iron. YUCK! YUCK! and YUCK!

However (notice I didn't say BUT), the infusion room is a very humbling place. As I've said before, it's pretty hard to sit there and feel sorry for yourself when I'm getting a bag of iron and everyone else in the room is getting chemotherapy. My mantra for this year is "Find blessings in every circumstance." In this particular circumstance, the blessing is pretty easy to find. So, I'm making progress, though it is a slow process. And if this is as bad as life gets for me, it's actually pretty good.

So, what's new with you all? What blessings have come into your lives? Share with me!

I post daily. So that you don't miss any of my randomness, you might want to subscribe by email.

Today, my daughter and I volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity site. Though I am beat, it was one of the most rewarding things that I have ever done.

I got involved in this project through FOJ Maria. I'm glad that she did. I met the folks who run Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, including new FOJs Michelle, Rud, and Gavin. I will be doing more with them in the future. I worked with the most amazing group of people. We were such a diverse group, that we could have only been brought together through a project like this. We worked alongside the new homeowner, a single mom. She gave us all open invites to visit her anytime. I can't wait until she moves in!

One of my favorite sayings goes like this--"You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can not repay you." What have you done recently for someone who can not repay you? How did it make you feel? Is there anything else like it in the world? Tell me about your experience.

The Powerball lottery jackpot crept up to $232 million dollars last month, before finally being won by a 23 year old, South Dakota cowboy. After seeing him on television, a little of my anger over not winning myself subsided. He bought his ticket in a little town called Winner.

The Powerball officials held a press conference on Friday to showcase him and I must say, he seemed like just the kind of person who should have won, IF I couldn't. He lives with his parents on a 320-acre cattle ranch.

Seems that his family had fallen on hard times. They don't have a phone, their mobile home was repossessed, they are behind in their taxes, and had taken to selling scrap metal and picking up hay off the side of the road to feed their animals. They live in one of the poorest counties in the country.

At the press conference, he read from a prepared statement. In his first statement, he thanked the Lord for the opportunity and blessing. He then vowed not to squander it. He said he wanted to repay his community "many times over" for helping his family. Even though he took the lump sum payout, he has yet to go on a spending spree.

I think he has his head on straight. I hope he follows through with his plans. And I still praying for my own ship to come in.

My problem lately has been focus. I have a long list of things that I need to get accomplished and I just never seem to get started.

This week is nearly filled to the brim. So I'm not going to try to pack more into it. But, starting next week--I will plan my work and work my plan. If I am to received all the blessings that I believe are in store for me, I have to put in the work. I simply haven't been doing it.

But the staycation is over. I am back on course. As always, if you are an obstacle in my path--PREPARE TO BE TRAMPLED!

Michelle O's commencement address over the weekend starting me thinking--What would I say to graduates if I were giving the keynote address? I think my message would be on the same vein as Michelle's--enjoy life, give back, and don't lose sight of what's important.

Enjoyment is key. Life is much too short and tomorrow is never promised, so live in the moment and see blessings in every circumstance. Don't forget those without whom you've couldn't have made it. Become that person to someone else. Know that being successful does not necessarily mean that you are wealthy. Don't get caught up in the pursuit of money and material things. Realize early that money has nothing to do with happiness. If it did, then Liz Taylor wouldn't have been married 32 times and Michael Jackson wouldnt have a rubber nose. Find things in life that make you happy--family, basketball, toy poodles, whatever! Find those things and enjoy. That's what it's all about!

I'm going through an exciting time in my life, but it's not without challenges. Major challenges. I have negative forces working all around me. They thrive on chaos, confusion, and creating an atmosphere of fear. I'm not sure what will happen, but, there are a few things that will NOT happen.

I've decided that I will NOT dwell in a place of FEAR. I will NOT let others define ME. I will NOT let others transfer their aura of chaos and confusion to ME. I will NOT forget from where all my blessings flow. These things will NOT happen and victory will be MINE!

There it is. I've claimed it. Now I just have to live it.

Supposedly, April showers bring May flowers. April was a doozy for me. The world tried to come crashing down on me, the Enemy thought he could defeat me--yet here I stand!

Today, I'm ready for whatever life has to offer. I will see blessings in every cirumstance. I will be happy and energetic while I'm doing it. I accept that everything will not go according to my plan. I will be a positive influence on every living thing in my path today. I will repel everything toxic. I am a verb! Amen.
