So, I was thinking--If my home were on fire, and all humans and pets were able to make it out safely, but I could also grab 3 other items, what would they be?

Well, I would grab my photo albums, even though most of my photos are stored online. I'm hoping that even though there is more than one album, that they only count for 1 item.

I would also grab my purse. It would contain my iPod, Blackberry, and Kindle. It would also have my keys, my atm card, and lip gloss.

Finally, I would take my personal Bible. I've had it for a long time and it needs to stay with me.

What would you take? Why?

Your comments--priceless!!

I have always kept my photo albums together for just that reason, it would be the first thing i would grab, then my purse and my computer. If i had time i would try to get some family momentos that have special meaning to me. I always feel so awful for folks who lose everything in a fire. I used to live in the redwood forest area of no cali, i can remember seeing folks evacuating driving by with things like rakes in their cars. I guess in a panic you just grab anything.

    That's a tough one.

I would try for my phone, laptop and for some reason I keep thinking a pair of shoes.

But knowing me, I will grab the first thing I see which would be fingernail polish, an ink pen and slippers. (there I go with that shoe thing again.)

Having had a fire (July 1984) as the flames came up the back walls of our house - I grabbed my tote that holds all my personal daily items (phone, laptop, bible, paperwork, journal ....etc.) Boxes with photo albums, old journals and mementos that date back 40 years, my camera/video camera and my keys. We had a 15-minute warning to get out ..... if not I probably would have only been able to grab my tote and keys. I would suggest to everyone scan all memorable pictures and store in a safe fireproof place...these are not replaceable items.

Always remember that safety comes first, most material things are replaceable. I remember duing an earthquake (Northridge 1994) I was looking for the cat and my hubby said the cat is already under the table (duh).
