When you walk into an ice cream parlor, do you browse and look at every single flavor or do you immediately just go for "plain vanilla?" I look through all the cases, but almost always end up with Butter Pecan, Rocky Road, or Mocha Almond Fudge. I would never have plain vanilla. When I find a great deal on a pair of shoes at Sawgrass Mills Mall, and the shoe comes in 3 colors--black, brown and fuschia--you can bet I go for fuschia. I leave plain vanilla for the plain janes.

I like variety. I like the unexpected. I like the unforeseen. I don't like predictability. I don't like the customary. I don't like regular. The more diverse the better--be it neighborhoods, restaurants, books, or music. Had I never stepped out of my comfort zone, I would have never discovered that my favorite food is thai, my favorite tea is caramel rooibos, or that my favorite song of the moment is David Archuleta's "Crush."

What about you--are you plain vanilla or are you adventurous? Is the familiar comforting to you or do you crave new things? I'm curious...

Your thoughts--priceless!!

I like to try all the flavors, especially those with peanut butter, chocolate or coffee. I like trying new things and exploring what I like and dislike. You could probably guess that Dan likes plain vanilla. He has become more adventurous with food because of his travels, but he is a man of certainty. He knows what he likes and doesn't feel the need to try new things as often as I would like.

I am a little of both. Sometimes I just want what I am looking for, it may be plain blk shoes or a gray suit. Sometimes I like variety, especially when it comes to frozen yogart. I can never make up my mind so I mix flavors, mostly tart. So...I am all mixed up..lol

I like plain vanilla. I like the cream color, I like the scent, I like the little black dots in my ice cream, I like what a little vanilla does with my hot chocolate :-) I like what a little vanilla ice cream does with my apple pie and my brownies. I love the taste of cream.

But if I buy ice cream, it's usually something caramelly I end up with.

It just depends on my mood, what taste I want, what look I want, and what's available. I'll do a vanilla dessert if everything else is covered in raspberries. Sometimes I'm in the mood for just a plain gold band or a solitaire pendant. Anything can be blinged up....just depends on what I feel like at the time.

I never could understand why folks order vanilla at 31 flavors...

Although i do not consider myself eccentric or out there, i do like to think and act outside the box. I am up for new things, as those who know me i upped and moved to san diego where i only knew one person and then i upped and moved to ga where i knew no one. I'm not afraid to try different things. And upon reflection, it has worked for me. My sister is my opposite, she makes lists, does things by the book and doesnt deviate much from her norm. It takes all kinds yanno!

Ok, now vanilla does have its place, especially the vanilla bean vanilla ice cream, its a great topping on hot apple pie, or even peach cobbler. But if I go for an ice cream cone, naw Imma look for I like chcolate, I even love the pistachio ice cream...thats pretty good. I like trying something new, if I don't like it, at least I know that it was something I tried.

Any kind of ice cream but Vanilla and Pistachio. Since I'm a day late and a dollar short and it's a beautiful day in Florida, I think I'll get me some ice cream today!

My mother was always most fond of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. She'd have other flavors once in a while, sherbets, fruity things, she loved pumpkin pie ice cream, but vanilla with chocolate syrup was always her ole standard.

For me, I like all sorts of ice cream. When I'm needing comfort and seeking it in ice cream, I go for Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey every time, though. Probably because at those times a part of mine feels like exactly that, hahaha!

I'm a chocolatier kind of fruity adventurer. I love trying new things and going different places.
I believe variety is the SPICE of life.
