Last fall, when the Twilight movie came up amidst much hype, I had no idea what the hoopla was about. All anyone could tell me was that it was a movie based on a children's book series about vampires. I was so not interested.

After the first of the year, Twitter was all abuzz about Twilight. Folks that I respected kept recommending that I read the books. I found the first one in Target for about 6 bucks, but I didn't buy it because I was expecting my Kindle in a couple weeks. I decided to read the Twilight series on my Kindle.

The Twilight series were amongst the first books that I downloaded in Kindle format. I was hooked after the first paragraph. I think I went through the 4 book series in about a week. I could have done it quicker, but I spent a lot of time staring into space after reading a chapter, letting it sink in. They are not about vampires, but rather about love and family. By the time the movie came out on video, I was ready. I got it that first day. I thought the movie was such a disappointment and was kind of glad that I hadn't seen it first. Based on the movie, I would have NEVER read the books.

Then True Blood started on HBO, based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series. Again, I was so not interested. But FOJs Lisa and Jan made me jealous by talking about it all the time. They made it seem so exciting. So late into the second season of the show, I bought the first season on DVD. Again, I went through the 12 episodes in about a week and can't wait to see the second season. I'm afraid to buy the books, though I have looked them up in Kindle format and see that I can get all 8 books for about $30. I never thought I would be into vampire books.

Have you read these books? Do you watch True Blood? Are you even interested?

Sounds like you loved twilight as much as I did. If you go to stepheniemeyer.com you can read a couple of hundred pages of Midnight Sun. Its a retelling of the first book from Edwards perspective. Very good and I hope she eventually finishes and publishes the book. I have read all the Sookie Stackhouse books and loved them as well. I just finished the first season of True Blood last night. I don't think you will be disappointed in the books. I too was disappointed with the Twilight movie and would never have read the books based on seeing the movie. Although there are some differences, True blood sticks closer to the story line of the books. I can't wait to start season two.

I was hooked on True Blood from the 1st preview and can not wait for season 3. Going to add the books to my Kindle wish list

  3. Wow, you worked in a Real Housewives of Atlanta reference & no one else caught it? Yayyy for crossing over to the wacky world of Bontemps, Louisiana. I'm ready to discuss when you are. I tried to read the first Stackhouse book & couldn't get into it, but I'm one of those people that has a hard time reading a book & seeing the movie anyway.

Am a vampire JUNKIE. have been since reading Anne Rice's books in high school. Twilight the film WAS a disappointment. The books were fantastically written. New Moon LOOKS as if it will be a better film. Totally watch True Blood. Am trying to 'sink my teeth' into the new vampire series on the CW, The Vampire Diaries. Does that answer your question? :-) Also... do you LOVE your kindle???

No thank you; I'll pass (lol).
My husband is into all of this, so I watch them SOMETIMES just to be with him. Personally, they are so boring to me, but thank God opposites attract. He's excited we're in the month of October because the Chiller Channel is full of his kind of movies. Sigh...

Glad I dropped by today! Have a great week.
